JOIN THE 30 BAYS SUMMERS CHALLENGE

'seas' the summer

Thank you for signing up to the 30 Bays Summer Challenge, celebrating 10 Years in 2026!

Running from 1st July to 31st August 2026, it’s still the same challenge you know and love, but with a few special updates for this significant year.

Please note the provisional details for the Opening and Closing Swims:
Opening Swim: Sunday 28th June at 10am, Greve de Lecq
Closing Swim: Sunday 30th August at 10am, Greve de Lecq

Be creative and enjoy getting in touch with our beautiful and precious coast. You can complete the challenge in a variety of ways to suit your needs:

  • The original 30 Bays challenge – do a sea-based activity; take a longer swim in the sea or a quick dip, or perhaps paddleboard or kayak
  • Stay on land and simply connect to your coast – visit each bay, build a sandcastle, grab a photo at every location, or grab an ice cream
  • NEW for 2026 – enjoy our mini Scavenger Hunt ‘Tide & Seek’ – can you spot the secret coastal symbols on each 30 Bays sign? Collect the checklist, email us, or print here
  • Visit the bays of your choice – we understand not everyone can get to all 30. Pick your favourites and visit them 30 times instead

It’s all about creating great memories and enjoying the summer in a fun or active way. And as always, please remember to only leave footprints after your swims, to help keep the beaches and bays looking as spectacular as ever.

Thank you to Fairway Group for being this year’s sponsors. And, while you enjoy your summer, we ask that you commit to raising a minimum of £50, which will go to two very worthwhile local charities, National Trust for Jersey and Jersey Hospice Care.

Where are they?

If you haven’t heard of some of these bays before or want to remind yourself how to get to them, we’ve written a little booklet you can collect or print off. It includes a map with a rough location for the bays, a description of what they’re like, and if they have any facilities nearby (such as refreshments and toilets). We also have a map poster and stickers for children, or as an alternative option.

Visit Jersey also offer a guide to some of the beaches : Jersey beach guide link from Visit Jersey

Swimming hats - We are giving out a free swim hat to the first 100 people registered as part of your entry.

WHERE WILL YOUR MONEY GO?

National Trust for Jersey

The National Trust for Jersey is celebrating its 90th Anniversary in August 2026! An independent, self-funding charity, since 1936 they’ve protected, managed and preserved our beautiful environment, rich wildlife and historic places, from clifftops to coast, woodlands to wetlands, to Jersey’s unique traditions and culture, for the enjoyment and benefit to all.

WHY?

Image
  • It's a great way to embrace the summer, whether for some mindful alone time, or to enjoy with friends, family or colleagues.
  • Take the opportunity to visit and learn about various parts of our beautiful coastline -  maybe try somewhere you’ve never been to before or haven’t visited for years.
  • Ditch the car and walk or cycle where you can for added exercise benefits.
  • Sea swimming and connecting with nature has proven benefits for mental health and wellbeing.
  • And most importantly, the funds you raise will be supporting two great local charities who do so much for the island.

WHEN?

Image
  • The challenge officially runs between the 1st July and 31st August, but you can start collecting sponsorship as soon as you sign up. It would really help the organisation of the event if you could register as soon as possible.
  • There is no official time of when you need to swim - it's whenever suits you! Swim before work, lunchtimes, daytime, after work - basically any time you can fit it in. Why not keep your swim kit in the car or keep it easy to grab and go, so you can tick off a swim whenever the conditions are right and the mood takes you.

BEACH SAFETY & TIDETABLE

Beach Restrictions For Dogs

Please make sure you clean up your dog’s mess or you could be fined up to £500.

Dealing with a Weaver Fish sting

Weaver Fish are normally found around the low tide mark. These small fish raise sharp needles on their backs in self-defence if trodden on and these can be extremely painful. Place the affected area in water as hot as you can stand. Test the water first so as not to scald the person who has been stung.

Dealing with a Jellyfish sting

Do not rub the affected area but remove the remains of any tentacle if present. Lightly spray or slowly pour sea water over the area and apply a cold compress if available. Watch for severe and/or life threatening symptoms such as confusion, check pain or weakness – seek emergency medical attention immediately.

RNLI – Beach safety advice

There’s nothing better than hitting the beach on a sunny day, but don’t let your day be ruined by trouble in the water.

Jersey Tidetable

With some of the bays it's easier to take a swim at any time of day or state of tide, but others definitely have an optimum tide to experience it at its best.
