30 Bays in 30 Days Blog

Welcome to our first blog!

What is 30 Bays in 30 Days I hear you ask? Well, it was originally the brainchild of Liz Stonebridge who devised it as a fundraiser for Les Bourgs Hospice in Guernsey, while visiting a friend in their care. Put simply, it is a challenge to swim in 30 bays during the month of July. Given the abundance and natural beauty of the bays and beaches around Jersey and the resurgence in interest in swimming in the sea, the 30 Bays in 30 Days challenge was seen as a perfect fit for the Island.

The event has been so popular in Guernsey since it was introduced in 2014, thanks in no small part to Liz’s unwavering enthusiasm, that when the idea of bringing it to Jersey was first mentioned, we were delighted. As well as a great fundraiser, it is the first time that The National Trust for Jersey and Jersey Hospice Care have had the opportunity to work together.

Let’s face it, it’s easy to make excuses not to go for a swim – too busy, don’t have your swim stuff, no-one to swim with etc. But you’ll soon find that the more you do it, the more addictive it will become. You will soon discover how much fun it is to go swimming before work, or how magical it is to be in the sea when it’s raining. Best of all though is the time you’ll spend with friends and family (even for a quick dip) developing new moments for the memory bank.

2016 is a significant year for The National Trust for Jersey, as they will be celebrating their 80th year anniversary and the 10th year of its Coastline Campaign. Jersey Hospice Care will also be celebrating their 10th anniversary of their Million Pound Lottery.

So what are you waiting for? It’s easy to sign up and then you can look forward to a great summer of swimming in our wonderful bays.
